This car came in to us in pretty good condition: it is an original 1981 convertible, but at some stage in its life time somebody has upgraded the vehicle to look like a 1990 964 Porsche convertible. To do this they have replaced the bumpers, side sills, mirrors, front seats and wheels to say the least, so you can imagine the car has had large sums of money spent on it over the years. The interior has also been connolised in black with new carpets.

At the time we were in the process of restoring a Rolls Royce and silver Porsche 911, so this one had to take a back seat and wait its turn but that also meant that during summer we had the ideal car to use and show.

So while we were waiting we had the wheels refurbished, replaced parts of the braking system and parts of the exhaust system in doing this we noticed the heat exchangers and boxes were in very poor condition.

Anyone who has ever been in or owned one of these early Porsches will tell you the heaters are terrible even when new, so we replaced one heat exchange and had another repaired.

We also machine polished the body shell of the car and blew in a few small marks to improve its looks while awaiting a space, but we have recently come across a Ferrari 348 spider in a sorry state and couldn’t resist buying it for our next project car! Sadly this means that unfortunately we decided to sell the Porsche as an ongoing project as we simply do not have the funds to store and restore all these cars.

As for the Ferrari we have started the mechanical side now and plan to start the rest of the Ferrari restoration within the next few months. Details to follow soon.
