We brought this Ferrari 348 Spider two years ago as a restoration project. The car is low mileage at around 40,000k but has not been looked after: this is mainly because it was bought a few years back at around 15,000 miles then used every day as a daily driver.
Although these cars can handle every day use, it isn't recommended as they're not designed to be used like this and don't have the same protectants and primers that a Ford Focus may have, therefore they can chip and start to rust very easily.

This Ferrari 348 looked amazing from a meter or so away, but up close and you can see small rust scabs, faded paintwork and light scratching around the bodyshell, the wheels are kurbed and the leather split and cracked, the car really needed freshening up.
The most important thing on any Ferrari is its heart - the engine! So before we started on the bodywork we sent the car over to Autostrasse for a cambelt change, full service and tune up. Tthe complete engine, gearbox and running gear can be removed in one complete sub frame, which is the only way to carry out these service repairs.

The next stage was to completely strip the bodyshell. We didn't need to go to such extremes but we wanted this Ferrari to be perfect and stripping completely was the only way. we removed all panels lights, hood and interior trim from the bodyshell, then removed all the paint from the other panels.
The interior trim was sent away to be recovered in magnolia leather with deep red double stitching, while all carpets were steam cleaned, and dashboard prepared ready for refitting.
The wheels were also sent away to be refurblished and the bolts rechromed, new centre caps and value caps were later fitted. More to follow...
