Stone chips, deep scratches, dents or any damage to the bonnet area will result in the whole bonnet needing refinishing and the wings blending (see FAQ'S).
This is because when spraying, paint particles land on a panel to form a pattern. The pattern can change depending upon many different things such as temperature, application and paint thickness. These differences are not noticeable on the side panels but on large flat panels like bonnets, boot lids and roofs they can stand out dramatically. Therefore, to achieve a perfect finish you cannot just paint sections of large, flat panels - you have to paint the whole panel.
The Process:
Any fittings around the areas due to be painted such as grills, badges, indicators, lights, etc are removed as we won't mask around parts that can be removed unless we have to.
The bonnet area is then cleaned and we carefully look across the panel for any other damage, stone chips, small dents, etc because these will show up more under fresh paint.
Any damage is repaired and the bonnet area primed with a high build 2k primer which is then oven baked in our low bake oven.
The bonnet and wings either side are now wet flatted by hand to remove imperfections and create a perfect smooth base ready for paint.
The car is carefully masked, sheeted & painted. Once painted, the car is baked and left over night to dry properly.
Painted areas are then wet flatted again to remove any small imperfections and the panels machine polished. All fittings are then refitted and the car cleaned ready for collection.
